Step 1 Cutting the fabric

Cut 2 pieces of the pattern in your chosen fabric, these can be contrasting or matching fabric.

Cut 5cm/2in strips of fabric along the bias for the binding around the edge of the gilet
and armholes, sew these strips together until your strip is approximately 4.25 metres/14ft long.

Cut the pattern in your chosen wadding, for my gilet I cut 2 pieces of wadding so that
each side could have a separate quilting design, If you want to quilt your separate sides
do this now.
