Description

I wanted a winter coat for going to the park and walking the dog. I started with the Ottobre Design Magazine 05/2013 fall favourite fishtail parka. I didn’t cut out the fish tail il the back, instead I curved the back. I quilted the inner using a thick cotton interlining, layered between flannel and satin lining. I wanted this to look different to my daughters coat so I added extra details at the cuff and the breast pocket. The large pockets I lined which helped give body and strengthen.

I love this coat, it took me about 20 hours to make.

This is a great pattern which is easy to sew.

Material Notes

Denim, interlining and lining is all from Birmingham Rag Market UK.

Thank you, I wasn’t sure about the red buttons. I nearly unpicked them and put some white or navy ones on them.

The fabric is from the Birmingham Rag market. The denim was £3 a meter and the spotty lining £1 a meter. I love walking round there and the stall
      holders are lovely.

      Sorry if I deleted replies.

The market is on a Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

I like going on a Tuesday there is a great zip stall (10p a zip) in the inside market, opposite side of the road to cafe soya.
