Description

Quilted short jacket from McCalls 6039. Really made for someone with a slim waistline, had to add front sections to give a little more room. Added a separating zipper instead of hook and eye’s down front. Added a hoodie on. Buttoned down on each side of hood with bounded buttonholes. I don’t think I would make it with a quilted material again, but maybe try a lighter denim or such with the longer sleeves.

Material Notes

Reversible quilted material. Contrasting piping. Zipper. Buttons.

oh wow! i have bought this pattern as i have to make it for an interview im attending! you made out of almost the exactly the same fabric, otherwise i probably wouldnt have spotted it as the same! looks fantastic, and i certainly love the addition of the hood! (anythings better with a hood and pockets in my opinion) also like the way you fastened the jacket too.

Did you have any difficulties at all? or is there anything you would change making it a second time?

Thank you kindly and good work! -Ruffles

Using a reversible material instead of a lined jacket, you end of with open seams, that you could either serge or like I did use a bias tape. Serging it probably would of been better, except it is a bit harder to work with being a quilted material. Take your time, it can get confusing with the material being almost the same inside and out. It should look great on you! Thanks for your nice comments.

wow, your jacket looks good! the red is a great contrast to the black & white fabric!

thanks, it was pictured like that on the pattern, but I think that’s what I liked about it too.
