Put your red dress on

Cowl neck Jersey dress made using Vogue 1250 by Donna Karen.

This dress got my husband much more interested in my sewing habit!!! I made it size 14 on the top and 12 from the waist down, if I were to do it again I’d do it all size 14 as its a bit more figure hugging than I might like. So far I’ve only worn it at home, it feels like a night time dress to me and with 2 children under 2 I don’t get out much! Maybe I will feel brave one day soon. I looked in my wardrobe after I made this which contains many dresses and realised I didn’t have another red one. The fabric was cheap cotton spandex jersey, quite lightweight which makes the neck hang nicely ( i made a white top after out of thicker cotton spandex and it doesn’t drape so well).

I’d love to make make another maybe a navy one for everyday wear and one in a pattern (but can’t find any nice pattern jersey in Spotlight which isn’t polyester and this is my only option locally so will have to wait).

Nice and easy to sew, I managed to get the inside cowl attachment the wrong side of the shoulder seam so didn’t enclose the seam (a nice neat thing) but its not the end of the world and I know for next time.

Your dress looks great on you and the cowl neckline is very flattering. Well done.
