Description

Well, the inspiration is entirely Sidonie by BurdaStyle. I needed a basic skirt. It was not difficult to draft the pattern so I did that. And here’s Ponte On The Bias.

The skirt draft is a basic skirt with waist darts cut on the bias. The skirt has just a little flare drafted in (the sides are slightly off the straight line drawn from waist to hem at the hem). The rest is taken care of by the bias hang of the fabric. I tilted the waist darts a little so that they lay in parallel to the side of the skirt. Add zip at side. Add waistband and tada…skirt!

I lined it too and the lining is just a copy of the skirt pattern but a little shorter.

Material Notes

Ponte di Roma knit purchased at Spotlight.

I got this description off www.orvis.com for a travel jacket on sale. I thought the fabric was described just beautifully there.

“Named for the arched bridges of Rome, which are echoed in the looped weave, this is an ideal fabric for travel. Wrinkle resistant, machine washable, and substantial enough to take tailoring well,…”

The skirt is lined with black satin.

You did a wonderful job! The lining and waistband looks very professional. I wish mine looked as good.

Thoroughly impressed with your drafting skills and attention to detail.

You say, “novice”, I say, “flawless”.
