Poinsettia cushion with felt

Added Nov 8, 2010

these two cushions are again for my x-mas-present-collection. i have made a plain white pillow and did an apliqué of felt in red and green that should look like a pointsettia. the little “bits” in the middle of the flower are made of different yellow glaspearls.

one of the cushions has mother of pearl buttons, the other one has (very old) linen-covered-buttons

Material Notes

white cotton-linen mix for the pillow, red and dark green felt for the poinsettia, yello glaspearls, embroidery threat and buttons

I love these! So bold and fabulous, and have a 70’s feel (which is great, imo!)

They look so cosy. I’ve never thought to applique or quilt felt. What a fabulous idea and so effective. Did you hand stitch all those little yellow beads?! I came across some old linen buttons recently but they were quickly snatched for tea plates in the dolls house!

thank you ever so much! the idea came, as i had those two colors in smaller pieces as a left over and thought, that they would look nice on white (and yes they are very cosy!) the yellow pearls are handsewn one by one :-)

As usual, great work! Those pillows have very simple and pure lines. Less is more in this case ;)
