London, United K...

My second version of this dress using the pattern I graded up to my size using the beautiful CDD.

Material Notes

This is a black stretch cotton with navy pin strips on, it cost me £5.50 as it was a 2.5 meter cut off in the bargain bin in the fabric store. Perfect for the smart work look.

Did you narrow the skirt? It seems to have a little less flare, but it could be how you are standing!

It could be a combination of two things how I’m standing trying to get a decent photo in the mirror! Or I could have possibly drafted the skirt shape slightly differently from Elaine’s original pattern, as I did not use the original pattern piece I had to grade the pattern to roughly a UK 14-16, these tiny sizes are no good to me!

OK, I hadn’t really thought about doing the coffee date dress for work, but it really is perfect, isn’t it? Great job, and thanks for the inspiration. Who would of thought the dress could go from cute date to work sophisticate?

Thank you, it’s perfect for work not too dressy and can be made smart with the right fabric I agree. I’m a teacher and thought I’m sure I could make this for the classroom and not look like I’m off on a hot date lol
