Pleated Petite Dress 02/2013 #112

When I saw the cut in the Burda, I was very excited because it is a petite cut and I know it will be a dress of dark blue fabric with small white dots, this has always been a dream. About a year ago there was a similar model from Jersey in which “H&M”.Here I buy far too rare, so I missed it. Well now I was able to sew me a dress.

I like the dress, but the fit so has its pitfalls. I think it’s much too short. If anyone would like to sew, making it longer, unless the one has long, slim legs and is almost 40! It is located at the intersection because I’ve looked at other sewn products and models which all have an asymmetrical length. I like it symmetrical, so I’ve tried to adapt somehow.

I would have liked it dressed for work, but not the length, so it is just a leisure dress.
With the dark blue cottonjacket with ¾ arm and the dark blue suede pumps I liked it very well. As jewelry, I chose a classic, the pearls.

Because it’s a classic so I think I’ll sew it again, but I want to sew it with stretchy jersey fabric and then maybe try to zip to do without.
Has anyone sewn jersey material?
About tips, I am very grateful.

Rayon, Zipper

It looks great on you! And I really don’t think it’s too short on you. I wondered though, how tall are you? Because I’m considering to make this dress myself. But I’m not ‘petite’ at all (1.70m.) and I’m kinda worried, that it might be too short for me, if I would sew this….

      Thank you!
Yes, this patter will be to short for you. I am 5’3 (1,59cm) but I found this same pattern on the burdastyle.de in your size!!! You are a neighbour of me, so I think the germanburda are not a problem to you ;) I wish you big fun to sew this beautiful dress!

Thank you! That’s a huge help. It would save me all the trouble of lengthening this pattern.
Now I only have to get this pattern and buy some nice fabric for this :)

      Nochmals danke schön ;)

Well it’s not scandalously short! – it looks very chic, and you look great in it! For tips about sewing jersey, there is this short video on this site:http://www.burdastyle.com/techniques/sewing-stretch-knit-without-a-serger-overlocker And as a starter, this page goes on to give links to several other posts on the subject:http://madmim.com/stretch-yourself-learn-to-sew-with-knits/ Good luck!
