Pin cushion XXlarge

Added Apr 15, 2010

by Ralf Schmitz

Berlin, Germany

for a friends birthday (she loves to sew as much is i do) i made a pincushion in larger size.

that makes it easier to pin the needles away and i also could use one of my latest mashin embroideries (the three cats).

the cushion is filled with rice and lovely smelling lavender and has a little vintage trimming around.

Material Notes

linen with mashin embroidery
cotton for the backside
vintage trimmings
rice and lavender for the inside

Garment Type
Cotton, Linen

Total Klasse! und Echt Toll! I totally agree! Again, I love your free hand redwork! I was born in Germany and immigrated to America with my parents when I was 2 years. I still have many relatives in the Black Forest area. Like you, I am also a quilter. Bravo to you!

What a good idea to have a larger pincushion, the cats are great.

Die Katze in der Mitte sieht ein bisschen aus, als hätte sie ein Wollknäuel verschluckt! ;) – Total Klasse! :-)

you will be surprised how much fun it is! and i really think of myself, that i can not draw a straight line…… but as soon as i sit on my mashine and have a stiching frame in my hands, it works. very keen seeing your first steps!

dear natalia! an embrodery hoop is a very good investment (i have 3 sizes and use the two smaller ones for the mashine 15 and 22 cm – very easy to navigate trough any “cat-design” :-) …….my biggest one is 50 cm and i use this mostly for handstiches) they all have been in a pricerange under 15 euro

What is the word in Deutsche? Is it wunderlich? Google is bringing up all these amazing-sounding words, like schnurrig and seltsam. Ich leibe!

:-))))) if i would translate it with “wunderlich” it would not really translate as a compliment. as this could be also translated with odd or strange. i translated it with “verschmitzt” or “neckisch”. – both are very positiv and nice (you may call me an optimist, but i allways try to read the positiv things :-)
