Chicago, Illinoi...

Corduroy jacket with patterned silk lining. The buttons match the shell. They are very cool (and were very expensive). This is one of my favorite coats, it is just the right weight and temperature for most of spring, fall and early winter.

McCall’s M5525

Material Notes

Corduroy shell, silk lining, and matching teal buttons

Spring, Fall
Garment Type
Casual, Classic
Corduroy, Silk

I love this! you did a GREAT job! I also love love love that you used corduroy… I’ve had some corduroy laying around waiting to use it for a peacoat/short trench style jacket like this but wasn’t sure how it would work on the lapel but yours is amazing! Now I’m off to the sewing room!

Do it! Cord was the perfect material! It’s the right weight and shows all the details. I love this coat. I’m sorry to say it’s starting to wear a little bit. Although, a tip, make sure to double up on interfacing around buttonholes and stuff. I had problems with the corduroy curling.

I love this coat, did you use an existing pattern or draft it yourself? The lining is great too!

I had a pattern for a basic trench coat that I picked up at Wal-Mart I believe, but I’ve since misplaced it. I also made another coat from it, I’ll post it soon.

I had a basic trench coat pattern. You should be able to find a suitable pattern just about anywhere!! Go for it!
