Old Curtains to Sidonie Skirt!

Glendale, Arizon...

I found some great old curtains with a beautiful pattern at Goodwill that had multiple stains, and were begging to be made into an outfit! I had to work around the stains to cut out my pattern pieces-luckily I bought all the curtain panels in anticipation of this problem! And, now I have lots of fabric for other projects! I think my favorite part is the waistband. The pattern on the curtains has a pretty leafy vine, so when I cut out the waistband piece I arranged it to be the focal point! The biggest thing I did differently than the pattern was arrange the pleats so that they faced the side seam instead of the front of the skirt. I had accidentally cut out one side like that and decided it wasn’t worth it to redo the it. I also made the pleats a bit smaller. The instructions also said to hand stitch the bottom hem, but I’m lazy and serged it and turned it up once instead, so the hem is much smaller than suggested, but I like the length of it. It took a long time, mostly because I couldn’t work on it everyday, but it’s a great addition to my wardrobe!

Material Notes

Curtains-not sure what kind of fabric as there were no labels! Also used 9inch zipper, one button, and interfacing (for waistband).
