'Now We are Free' tutu

Added Jul 7, 2009

Ellensburg, Wash...

I mad this tutu from scratch for a school talent show, where I performed an original piece to the song ‘Now We are Free’ from the movie ‘Gladiator’. I grew up in professional tutus and really wanted to try my hand at one. There are 11 rows of ruffles, plus the decoration on top for the skirt, all sewn onto a mere 3.5" space in some spots on the panties. The skirt is hand tacked and the bodice is a modified and fully lined and boned Jessica McClintock prom dress pattern.

Material Notes

lots of tulle, shantung silk, silk brocade, sparkly green crepe.

The photos are not mine, but I am not entirely sure who shot them.
