Description

This shop bought dress needs breaking up with a wide belt to look good on me. I often wear it with a wide leather belt and matching boots, but I thought I’d make an obi belt repeating some of the colours of the dress. I found a plain silk tie in just the right shade of green in my collection and used this for the ties for the new belt. I knotted the ties in a necktie knot for a bit of fun! I also used interfacing to give the belt a little shape because of the soft fabrics I used.

This is my first obi – I’d been meaning to make one for quite some time! It takes very little time, it uses up smaller pieces of farbic you might have lying around and it’s not difficult. The next obi I make will have a gathered back.

Material Notes

linen, rayon, silk, medium weight interfacing.

I love the colours that you have used in this belt. It’s really different!
