Navy Corduroy Jumper

Last weekend I had two of my friends over for a sewing party and we all made jumpers using our A-line Jumper pattern from the 09/2012 issue. We omitted the pockets to make it an easier sew since my friends are very beginner sewers, but getting better every project we make together! I wanted to make one for myself so I could pin and sew each step while they watched and then sewed it themselves. This navy corduroy that I purchased was perfect for the pattern! Just enough weight, and who doesn’t love a good throw-back cord fabric. I haven’t sewn or even worn corduroy in many years, and now I have a jumper that fits and I love.

Material Notes

I have an out-of-print jumper pattern from the early 1990s that is still my all-time favorite dress and my most-often used pattern! I love each and every version I’ve made—mostly recently using a floral ponte. You’re right that you can wear so many different tops under it, and so many different types of layers over it (cardigan, long blazer, cropped jacket, blanket-scarf, etc.). I’ve NEVER seen this particular Burda pattern—thank you for featuring it! Your blue version is gorgeous and gorgeous on you (whoever said THIS is YOUR COLOR is so very right!) ! I’ve added this pattern to my cart! Love it!
