New York, New Yo...

We love this cute velvet jacket, perfectly romantic for a lovely spring. With its asymmetrical collar, gathers and peplum, it is sophisticated and sassy at the same time. We made it in a rich chocolate velvet, but we can’t wait to see the fabrications you choose!

I think this is really beautiful, and though it’s really luxe looking in this shiny fabric, I think it’d be great in an equally beautiful but more matte fabric to really let the details stand out. I’m loving the collar, and I don’t think it looks boxy; I think that it gives a good illusion of curves, though the waist could maybe be a little more fitted. I usually don’t buy patterns, but I’ll have to think about this one…I’ve got some fabric stashed away that seems to have this jacket’s name written on it….

PLF—this jacket is a silk blend velvet… There’s a little bit of something else in it, maybe rayon, I can’t remember. colerose76—the plus version is coming on Monday!!!

Love it. Looks like a fun staple to have in the wardrobe for jeans, a fierce pencil skirt, some wide-legged strides, or…shorts. Thank you, Burdastyle!

I’m not overly impressed. Fairly cute, but it’s lack of tailoring would hide curves and make one look a bit boxy a tad frumpy and well curveless. I’d like to see it with a more fitted feel, without the arm ruffles, or perhaps a bit more structured ruffles. Don’t get me wrong, it’s kind of and I love ruffles but I can just see form being lost in it.

It’s cute but too froo-froo for my daughter and too young for me. I am anxious to see the “cleaner” version you promised.

Even though this jacket would not suit my figure type I just have to say I love it anyway. Beautiful design, love everything about it. Feminine, classy and original with that great collar. Just love it!

Ah…I guess I am the only one that doesn’t like this jacket! It looks a bit too boxy for me, with the waist at such a weird spot. Not at the waist, not empire…I don’t know. This just isn’t doing it for me. (I do agree with everyone about the shoes though!) Thanks though, for the time and effort put into creating this pattern!

I am so glad to hear that you like it! We had a great time designing it. For this pattern we have to size ranges, this being the first one running from 32 to 42. Next week we will give you the other size range from 44 – 54. In that version we will also show you how to get rid of the ruffles in case you feel like Kiraph and you would prefer a cleaner, less romantic look. >/br> Benedikta

Nice! I bought it – I’ll probably lengthen it in the bodice a bit. I have a great skirt that needs this kind of top. Hooray!

I like the collar but I feel the ruffles on the cuffs and hem make it a little frumpy, they look like they aren’t full enough to me. Thanks for another new pattern though, burdastyle!

So good to see a new pattern for women again! I really like this—both fun and sophisticated. Seems to have a bit of a vintage vibe too that I’m liking.

@zora I’m sure it’s very easy to lengthen the sleeves. sewing is all about trial & error. just give it a shot.

this photoshoot looks very sexy and mature. could be a shoe ad, too! and thanks for making me like velvet a little bit more :)
