My version of BurdaStyle Peplum Top 08/2012 #113

Melbourne, Austr...

This seems to be one of the most popular patterns on BurdaStyle. And my wardrobe was missing a Peplum top. So I decided to give a try.

I made a lot of adjustments:
I shortened the peplum and the bodice, because I intend to wear it under a jacket.
I moved the seam of the back bodice and the peplum higher so that it got closer to my waist line.
I have sloped and small shoulders. So I corrected the shoulder seams and the armholes.
I made a wider neckline
I used bias binding for the neckline instead of facing

This is very nice. I like that it looks less formal than the pattern and is more versatile. The fit is fantastic! I’m really trying to get to grips with fit at the moment. I have put on some weight and now find that a full bust adjustment is necessary and also, despite using the high bust for pattern size, the shoulders always seem too wide. I’m very interested in how you have tackled the shoulder issue x

Thank you for the comment. I mainly pinch the excess fabric on the shoulder seam and on the bodice to make it fit. I just uploaded the photos pinches I made on the front and back bodice. Then I sewed basting stitches and ironed it and fitted it again. It’s worth pointing out that you will need to lower armhole if you pinch fabric on the other section of the armhole. Hope it helps.
