My Summer Wash and Go

Added Jul 8, 2010

Seattle, Washing...

I just finished this summer dress and wore it for my birthday. I love it! I deiced to call it “My summer Wash and Go” because of the easy wrinkle hemp / cotton denim I used . I have used this fabric for projects in the past and found that is almost impossible to keep it crisp looking. And it requires a lot of pressing out of the wash. So for this dress I went ahead and worked the wrinkles into the idea. I used New Look pattern 6864 for this style. The only real change I decided to make to the style is I decided to not add a lining so that I can get a good amount of wrinkles after washing. Linings are often used to help reduce wrinkles in garments. I also decided to use the " Hong Kong Binding Seams ":http://www.burdastyle.com/techniques/hong-kong-binding-seam-finish from the Burda Style techniques post because I was not using a lining in the dress.

Material Notes

Indigo Hemp & Cotton denim

blue thread.

Thank you. I was just watching season 3 of Mad Men and realized I can use this pattern to make a copy of the long multi colored dress Betty has on in episode 8.
