My Journey to Project Runway - Larger Than Life | Vest, Comp...

Miami, Florida, ...

In maintaing my point of view as a designer, which is merging and blurring the line between mens and womenswear, I created a vest as a companion piece for the dress designed for Project Runway, S8-E2, Larger than Life challenge. Since the dress is ultra feminine, I wanted to toughen it up a bit with a grunge article of clothing.

So I went to the local thrift store in search for some charcoal (grey) leather or dark denim. Instead, I found a great charcoal cotton pant that had been “worn-to-death”. The pant was so abused, it didn’t have a button at the fly. Nonetheless, I know it was the perfect piece to accommodate the dress.

Great waistcoat, really creative. I think you have done some really cool stuff with womenswear.

Very cool transition from jean to top! Denim is my favorite fabric in the world (have I mentioned that?). I really like this one!

Thanks cantare. This is actually a cotton, similiar to khaki pants fabric. I fell in love with the pants because they look like denim and suede.
