My green graduation dress

I had a hard time looking for a dress to wear on my graduation ceremony so, I decided to go ahead and sew myself a dress (Side note: this was the first dress I’ve sewn). The pattern I chose was exactly the type of style I was looking for: elegant but yet not flashy. I used fabric of the same colours as my alma matter (dark green). I am a newbie in sewing and working with chiffon proved to be challenging because the fabric kept forming puckers on the side seams. Also, my dress ended up with a heavy accumulation of fabric around the waist after gathering the top fabric and the lining layers, so, I decided to include a belt to help shape the waist.

Overall, I felt very happy with the results! I graduated with a PhD in Medical Sciences and also as a novice dressmaker.

Material Notes

Chiffon (top layer)
Polyester satin (lining)
