My first suit.

This is my first jacket and skirt combo. The jacket is McCall’s 5858 pattern. The skirt, I drafted myself. The shirt is also a McCall’s pattern. The material is a charcoal linen with a poly lining.
I learned a lot from this jacket. I learned that my shoulder’s require a forward shoulder adjustment and a shoulder blade addition for the back. I used the book Fit For Real People to get this worked out just right. When making this, I felt that there were certain things that could have been changed to make it better. Currently, I am working on a 40’s suit pattern through Sherry’s Tailoring Sew-along. I am learning all of these little things that make just a simple pattern into an amazing jacket.

    Inspiring! I’m just moving into intermediate sewing skill and I can’t wait to do my first suit- I have a simplicity 40’s pattern that I’m itching to start cutting up :) Your suit looks fantastic, love the long pencil skirt

    wow! fantastic job. that combo (skirt, jacket and blouse) looks grear together, the bow on the blouse makes it so feminine.

      thanks! i made them separately, but enjoy them together. i get excited when I get to tell people that i made the whole outfit.
