My first dress from a pattern

Added Jun 8, 2010

Auvergne, France

I was inspired by all the Danielle dresses I saw so I picked out some fabric from my stash and got to work. This is just a test-drive of the pattern/size to use with some pretty linen I bought in Paris last week. Thankfully I did so, because the size I prepared from the pattern floated on me! I spend lots of time adjusting and now I can say I really now my seam-ripper inside out. =)

Material Notes

yellow rickrack and zipper (don’t ask…)

cotton calico from my mom’s quilting collection.. I figured if the dress didn’t work out, I wouldn’t cry.. And actually I don’t think it looks half bad.

Beautiful! Looks fantastic with your coloring. Your darts and pleats look very well-tailored.

It’s really cute – makes me want to make one. Will look really great in your linen, I’m sure.
