My first attempt at sewing!

I started this dress as my very first attempt at sewing. It has taken 10 months in all to finish but I’m very proud of it.
I used a Simplicity pattern (I can’t remember which one – sorry) and cut it to a size 8. As I am actually a size 4/6 I had to adjust every part of the pattern to fit properly.
I found the collar particularly difficult but am pleased with the result.
The original pattern called for a lining but as my fabric was already quite heavy I opted to go without a lining and so had to make facings for the neckline and the zip opening.
There was lots of hand finishing to do which took me ages…
I have learned a lot in terms of technique (and patience) whilst making this dress and am very pleased with the outcome.
Can’t wait to start the next one!

Welcome to the club :D I’ve been where you are just a year ago and given I’m self taught, there were a lot of lessons learned…how to’s, terminology… You’ve done a great job on your first project and it only gets easier and better from here :)
