Description

1950’s inspired dress with invisible zip at side seam and a thrifted belt.
(It’s snowy and freeeeezing around here at the moment, so I placed myself somewhere that looked a bit warmer and greener and more suitable for a short sleeved dress :-b)

such a lovely dress; i’m a huge fan of polka dots. i’ve made a wiggle dress that i must put up. do you have a petticoat on under that skirt, or is the fabric maintaining that look on its own? if so, what fabric did you use?

I’ll look forward to seeing your dress:-)
I did wear a petticoat under it or rather another skirt with the right shape:) It’s just a plain cotton.

Love it! I’m trying to make myself a 50s style rockability halterneck dress at the moment, but it is seemingly impossible to get hold of a suitable pattern, despite it seeming like a simple design. I think I’ll have to brave it and try and create my own pattern like you did, very inspirational!

Thanks. I’m sure it wouldn’t take you long at all! Just draw the design you want onto a basic block and have a little play around with it. I’ll look forward to seeing it;-)

You could never tell that it was winter! I absolutely love polkadots. This dress would be perfect for a summer garden party. Great job!

Great job. The colours work really well on you & the red belt finishes it off nicely! Good work :D

Cute! Is this a commercial or self-drafted pattern?

      Thanks:-)
It is self-drafted, but very simple. Pretty much basic fitted block for the top and then some big rectangles for the skirt.
