mustard pencil skirt

Great Yarmouth, ...

I made this skirt for my eldest daughter as a Christmas gift and finally got to take a picture of her wearing it on her birthday last Saturday. We had been looking at some patterns when she saw a pencil skirt that she liked in a bright yellow with white dots fabric, so when I saw this mustard coloured material in the remnant bin in my local fabric store for only 1 pound, I immediately grabbed it. Had a few issues making it, including pricking myself with the needle whilst handstiching the hem and getting blood all over it. So I googled how to get rid of bloodstains and used toothpaste on it and would you believe it, that did the trick! Came out of the washing machine as good as new! She loves it and I might make another one.

thanks a lot Mary! the fabric really was a fantastic find, not quite sure what it is, it is rather thick, so possibly curtain fabric, but who cares :-) and yes, she was delighted with it, has worn it quite a bit already, so that’s always a good sign ! I did actually consider this pattern for myself but I have found another pencil skirt pattern last week, which I have used twice already (one leather one scuba) haven’t worn them yet, but as soon as, pictures will be posted :-)) xx

This looks fab on your daughter chula and what a bargain you got on the fabric. I tend to go a bit mad when fabrics reduced lol. You would suit this skirt so much as well .I bet your daughter was delighted with her gift x
