oh, and you can use standard thread- just remember to STRETCH the elastic as you go, and when doing the string(s) stretch the actual fabric as you go! that way when you go to tie around your neck, you don’t hear a crackle of threads splitting from the tension.

so sweet, thank you! i have a Brother sewing machine (nothing fancy) but the fabric CAN get a bit hard to handle, I just found that I have to take xtra time when starting the first initial stitch into a spandex/lycra fabric so that it doesn’t get pulled in between the feed dogs and get stuck- but there is no reason you can’t sew this with your average sewing machine. you should look online, i live in NYC so Spandex House is one of my fav spots- they have alot, and you can order online- here’s a link to their product line (just click on the product name and they will show you a sample piece)http://spandexhouse.com/product.asp thank you so much again!

    that’s really amazing!

when you make these, do you need to use special thread? and will an ordinary sewing machine cope with the fabric?

I’ve been thinking of making myself one like your aqua version, just as soon as I can lay my hands on some suitable fabric!

    well done again

thanks so much, once i messed around with different triangle shapes , i found 2 that i really liked. With the aqua colored bikini, i just attached a triangle with the widest part of the triangle lining up with the top part of the bikini bottom and just made it one piece. The process was fairly easy- the hard part was keeping my coffee warm.

Cool photo op. I really like the material of the second mono-bikini. I’ve been thinking of doing a suit like this for myself- was it pretty easy?
