Mirela's White Wrap Shirt

Added May 11, 2009

by mirela

Hollywood, Flori...

Pattern: Burda 02/2009
The exclusive design from Tristano Onofri
Fabric: sheer cotton/poly

This is a sheer paisley fabric, so I underlined the front wrapped pieces with the same fabric.
The blouse has a side invisible zipper and a false ribbon bow.
The back neckline and the sleeves’ hem are gathered by sewing with elastic thread in the lower bobbin, using a longer stitch step (4mm). Sew two double parallel lines with the elastic about 5mm apart, then pull on the elastic ends to achieve the desired gathering length and securely tie the elastic and the thread in a few knots.
I like to wear this with an embroidered cami underneath, not only because of the sheerness of the fabric, but also because the wrap is very revealing especially when I move…I love the look of wrap blouses and dresses, but one would need to really fill them so they would stay close to the body…me…I get a cami.

Material Notes

cotton/poly, invisible zipper

Mirela, You are so prolific. We can’t catch up! But that’s okay. You give us something to aspire to.

    Beautiful outfit for the summer.

I just got this issue and really liked the look of the outfit.  Your top has turned out so nice, I might consider it for summer.  Its a bit cool here at the moment to wear short sleeves.  Glad to read that Susisonne’s trousers were a success too.

Hey Mirela, you were busy! Love the blouse and your fabric choice. And, I like seeing the blouse on a real person – I wanted to make this one but I was concerned about the fit and the wrap parts. I’ll give it a try ASAP.

Great blouse! I am also working on this pattern but I cannot find the time to finish it at the moment. I also made the trousers, I used a wool/cashmere/silk fabric. This were my first pants I made and I love them. Will upload some pictures when I find some time.

Mirela, you have been busy. I love all your new creations, but this one is especially cute. I was debating whether to get the Feb issue (which STILL has not arrived at my local newsagent), since I’ve been way too busy of late to sew, but this cute number has me rethinking. I had to smile about the cami — I have the same problem with gaping.

What a great look! You really did a great job on this top! As for wearing a cami, that’s a great tip for modesty. Happy sewing!

Thank! Let me know about the trouser, I really like how they look in the picture, but I’m not sure what fabric would be best…

Ooooh, I love this, I just got this Burda issue and I think I will make this top and the trousers by the same designer. You look great in yours!
