Maid of Honour Gown

My sister had a black and white 007 themed wedding, and delighted me by asking me to be her Maid of Honour. Sadly, I was unable to find the dress we both wanted for me, so I made it myself!!! I’m the one in black and white, beside the stunning bride in red and white.

While I made several colour, sizing, stitching and other alterations to the pattern (including changing to a lace-up back instead of a concealed zipper), I used McCall’s M5321, as it had excellent instructions on how to do the pick ups. I then made my own wrap with some simple black crystal organza with 3" white taffeta strips at the ends for weight.

Material Notes

Black on black crinkle taffeta, white on white basic taffeta, interfacing for white parts, acetate lining (and lots of it)

Summer, Fall
Garment Type
Bridal, Evening Wear
Organza, Satin, Silk, Taffeta

Thank you so much for the support! This was my first major project, and the first one I’ve ever shared with the public. I added more pictures for those who asked for them, one from the side, and another more close up. Again, thank you so much!
