Description

The third and final wedding of 2011 that I was in was for my cousin’s wedding. This was the only wedding where all the bridesmaids had the same dress. I had to make a replica of an Alfred Sung cocktail dress, only to make it a babydoll style that would allow for my belly.

Thanks everyone! @ b4igotfamous – I have an old sundress pattern from the 70’s that has a basic bodice on it that I altered quite a bit to match the other bridesmaids’ dresses, and then I based the skirt on the Dirdnl from the Built By Wendy Dresses book (highly recommend it – check your local library first to see if they have a copy) but used Wendy’s slash-and-spread method to get a gathered skirt. Again, it was kind of trial and error to get a maternity-friendly version of the other girls’ dresses!

Looks great!! Did you use some kind of a pattern to go from? Or did you create your own?
