Looks Just Like The Sun

Nashville, Tenne...

during this next week I will be submitting a few garments in the TXMD fashion show and this is one of them. It had lived a full life as a handmade vintage dress, shaped like a potato sack and made with awesome fabric, yet its redesign has been way overdue! To start I took off the sleeves, took out the princess seams and side seams, cut holes in the sides, refit it to a size 6-7, hemmed the crap out of it, but at that point I realized that the holes were too big! I quickly decided to use the ends of the sleeves to create shallow pockets and cover up part of the giant holes- honestly it looks as if I planned that! hooray!
Next I pick-stitched the sleeve openings, pockets, and decided to take out part of the zipper in the back. the original shape was very stifling and tight, yet this new version looks so awesome!
With a few alterations and some rearranging I managed to create a completely different look and sillhouette to this dress and hope that it makes it into the show! Now I can comfortably wear this out to any spring party and show some skin without being too risk-ee

Also the theme is “retro” and this dress reminds me of early 60’s cutout/Jackie O……any thoughts?

Yes! was hoping someone would get that- I have had that song stuck in my head alot lately so I found it fitting, even if this dress looks nothing like the sun…

Woah I’m totally in love! SUCH a brilliant dress. I loooove the cut outs at the side! Unfortunately I have far too much sidefat, but I’d love to wear that style!

That’s a lovely, interesting dress that I think could be popular if it were sold in stores. I don’t know if I’d be brave enough to wear that cutout but I’m sure a lot of younger girls would love it.

Fabric is a treasure, would have loved to have seen the dress before you reworked it. Aint it great when a error can be covered-up and transformed into something else, amazing work!
