Used vogue V1161 pattern. There was a little adjustment to the pattern addition to lengthening it with 4".
At first I wanted to use only the bodice and finish it with a full skirt, but after a week debate with myself I decided to use the original pattern. I kind of like the back flare of the skirt. I used the cording feature of my machine to add a little extra detail. Finished it with rolled hem, instead of using facing. It wasn’t a difficult project, but took me about 2 weeks to finish it because i was so undecided about it. I still don’t know if I love it, but definitely like it:)

Oh wow, your dress turned out fantastic! I love the way to used the decorative stitches to call out the unique design lines of the dress!

It is fresh and simple!!! I am just thinking that the lines in angles can be put on the waist line to give a thin silhouette look. You know like these geometrical lines to add some visual effects? Very good job girl!!!!!

Wow, how did I miss this one? It looks amazing. The cut is so interesting, and I really like how you emphasized it with the contrasting topstitching. BTW, thanks for the nice welcoming words – I’ve been quiet for too long ;).

i love the little detail that you added! i like how it makes the dress look like it has fake pockets from the front! but maybe it shouldn’t have gone to the part below the derriere? i don’t know, i don’t like it under the butt… :P

Thanks:) I was debating over that too, but stopping at the side seam( which isn’t exactly on the side but goes toward the back) just wasn’t an option for me. It looked unfinished. Rather outline my butt then wearing a halfway dress:))

Love the cording detail! The back is amazing! Very neat sewing for this complicated design!

Great sewing, detailing and styling job – of course! – but to be honest I’m not much for this fabric for this pattern.

Thank You! I like the fabric a lot too, but there is a downside to it. As you know this pattern has more pieces around the hip and back area and this cotton material is too crisp for this. Second time around, I would use something that easier to form, mold and iron for the smoothest fit.

Yeah you’re right, too many pieces around the hips and in my case I’m hoping this will help the fitting, otherwise I won’t know which one of them to adjust. I’ve choosen a fabric with a print similar to the one vogue used, only it’s a bit smaller. I hope I’ll soon have time to sew it.

It’s fabulous. I love that fabric. I like the back flare, too, especially with the added length.
