Linda skirt, basically

St. Petersburg, ...

I found this great material that I thought would make a great skirt, then I saw the Linda pattern, which didn’t look too hard. It’s not perfect by any means, but I can wear it, and the mistakes are not apparent unless someone gets closer than they need to be! I didn’t understand all the directions, particularly the waistband part, but I am very new at this. I didn’t realize that I needed to iron out the invisible zipper either, but it zips and the color doesn’t stand out too badly. I also got lazy and machine stitched the hem, but I think it looks all right. I did shorten it a little bit, but I really like the pattern. It makes a great dancing skirt!

Material Notes

bright cotton blend, invisible zipper, one button, contrasting cotton for lining

my friend Deanna gave me the idea for the contrasting lining, and I really like it

my husband was quite patient as I turned our living room into a sewing room off and on for a few days

How to Sew a Button Hole by Fernfiddlehead was great!

Oh, yeah, the stripes do the same thing on the back left, which makes the look even better, in my opinion. Thanks for the compliment, too!

Finally I remembered to have my husband take a picture of me while wearing the skirt! I didn’t intend a whole body picture, but oh well, hope it helps the stripes to be seen. At first I was disappointed that the stripes were to the side, but the more I wear it, the more I like it!

I’m curious how the stripes on the fabrics look when you wear the skirt! It turned out very nice! I like the button, too :)
