Limoncello Roses Dress

Added Dec 16, 2014

by floralgirl

Adelaide, Australia

This pattern is Burda 7829 which I purchased as a download from sewingpatterns.com .It’s still available on their website. It’s unavailable in paper format. I know there is a very similar pattern in a Burda mag but I’m not sure which one-or maybe it’s a download on Burdastyle. If anyone knows they could add a link or reference please.

I was very fortunate to visit the isle of Capri this year(first overseas trip!!!) and the Limoncello shops made me think of my yelllow roses dress. In my alternate reality I’d spend months in Capri sipping Limoncello and speaking fluent Italian.

I really like this pattern-it has the wide waistband which I love and and princess seamed bodice. i decided to add yellow piping to the waistband. i also made the straps a little bit thicker. Now all I have to do is remember my sunblock(the joys of being fair skinned in Australia).

Material Notes

slightly stretchy cotton possible with some spandex

This is so incredibly beautiful. And such gorgeous fabric. I can’t believe you picked it up for such a bargain. Looks like a very expensive dress!

Thanks. I always use a zipper foot for the piping and it helps that my pfaff has 18 needle positions.

Thanks Mary. Capri was always special to me. I grew up with a painting of Capri in our lounge room My grandfather (away 5 years WW2) watched it being painted and brought it back to Australia after the war. So glad he got to be in Capri for a little while. Still pinching myself that I went there.
