Liberty t shirt and velvet skirt - Camiseta liberty y falda ...

Madrid, Spain

So I went to visit UK this summer and visited this cute fabric shop Ray and Stitch that was great, I almost spent a whole afternoon there… There it was: wonderful elastic cotton from Liberty that did not look like typical Liberty.
For the skirt I had kept this silk velvet leftover from a tapestry shop for ages, till I was assigned to a project in Netherlands, and decided I needed a cozy yet smart for the office.
So here is the result.
I drew all the patterns, very easy to sew, but I tried my best on the trimming.

Material Notes

Elastic t-shirt cotton. Bias tape. Silk velvet.

Garment Type
Casual, Preppy
Cotton, Knits/Jersey, Silk, Velvet

Que chula! Me encanta esa tela y lo que has hecho con ella. Ya no entro mucho al Burda este, así que no me tengas en cuenta que no te haya comentado esto antes…por cierto que no veo lo de la tapeta… que proyecto es?

It is, despite the photos don’t show how it actually suits my skin colour…
Designing it was very easy as I followed the Amador method (a “traditional” couture school method), applying it with your own measures insures the total success. Next time I should provide instructions about the pattern construction.

I am quite happy with it since I don’t use serger (and probably won’t at least in a close future), finding the best trimming is an important task for the final result.

I’ve been to Raystitch too! What’s the Liberty Jersey like to work with? I’ve never sewn with knits before and would love to have a bash with these!

Ray & Stitch is great! It was funny to speak with one of the owners and realise that she had been living in Spain and spoke fluently Spanish…
My experience was brilliant, it was a knitted fabric and how could I explain? The fabric did not slide so it was very easy to pin, draw, cut…
I guess it depends on the composition, as mine was only cotton and elastic and there was no “viscosa” nor rayon in the blend….
I hope my comments are useful.
