i bought a vintage laura ashley dress one day
found it on flea market and payed 0,5 euros for it
believed or not
it even was my size
and had adorable back botton closure
but when i got it home and tried it on
it was all wrong
it had droped waist (that never look nice on my body)
and those dreadful 80’s puffy sleewes
but print was adorable, and lace collar and skirt with darts and buttons in back
so.. i cut it in half
shortened bodice a lot
then altered it to fit me the way i want
removed sleeves, and then redesigned them and put them back on
made some extra darts on skirt and stitched it back on
and voila
a brand new vintage goodie :)

Ha deadly, I love turning dodgy granny dresses into amazing vintage treasures! It has to be the most gratifying form of dressmaking you can do, cheap and fast with amazing results! This is such a fantastic dress now, I love the colours with your hair and tights :)

It looks fantastic. I also love the way you styled it/your overall look. Would have loved to see before pics too! but I always forget to take those myself.

You did such a wonderful job. This fits you and suits you beautifully. I love Laura Ashley fabrics but the dress designs can be a bit mumsy sometimes. You have turned a mumsy dress into a stunning dress!

I agress, lovely patterns, awful dresses! Such a shame. I prefer Gunne Sax/Jessica McClintocks stuff from back them, she did the prairie thing but used beautifl cuts and styles.

i’m always trying things on in the store and being like, this is perfect! except the bodice needs to be this way, and the length should be more like this… i guess that’s why we sew! cute dress

thanks meh.. hehe.. same with me.. that’s why i stopped buying things in stores almost a year ago.. if i’m going to alter it anyways, it’s better to use flea market clothes or start from a scratch..
