Lady Orchid - Member Model Challenge

Here is my entry for the Member Model Challenge: I regretted the choice of the fabric from the very first moment I started sewing it, it is a high quality cotton satin but with absolutely no stretch… Not an easy project for me, in particular I had some difficulties in figuring out how to sew the ruffled neck details. I shortened the length of the dress of about 10 cm and the bodice of 1 cm, to adjust it to my small height. Overall I am quite happy with my dress, I like the shimmering effect of the fabric.

I really can’t get my head around how this pattern works, so I’m not surprised it was a bit tricky for you. But you’ve pulled it off…the fabric is gorgeous and it fits you lovely! :)

Thank you, usually I am more into prints but for this type of dress I preferred a plain color :)

I Love your version. Satin as fabric itself is quite a tricky fabric and then using it for pattern which should be made with stretching fabric. Terrible. I would be afraid to move and pop a seam, if I had made my version without stretch fabric. Greetings from the other end of switzerland.

Thank you, I loved your version too, at least you can move, I have to hold my breath into my non-stretch dress :D. Good luck for the competition and sunny greetings from Ticino!

It’s a cool pattern! I would’ve given it a go if the pattern was offered for free for this challenge :p I like your version of it and the fabric is very pretty (even though you’re not that happy with the choice :))

Thank you, I was so attracted by the 50’ style and could not avoid the compulsive purchase :)
