lace simple shift

Fraser Valley, C...

I have been eyeing this vintage lace material & blue lining in the stash for a long time…. finally it came to me. I saw Grosgrains pattern for a simple shift. I love this style of dress. It works for some many reasons. Its fast to make and its great for showcasing gorgeous fabrics.

I did improvise with this variation. I did not make the triple seam in the middle of the material. It was hard to do with this lace material as it has wider or bigger holes to compensate. I will do the top stitching and triple seams on another one. I sealed the sleeve & hem shell with home made bias tape. The zip was not sewn in between the shell and lining as it was too see through. So I just sewed both materials together and attached the zip.

Material Notes

Vintage lace & acetate blue lining fabrics from the stash. Also a 99 cents zips from the local fabricland shop. It was suppose to be for a pouch however made its way into this awesome dress.

I really like this dress. The simple pattern suits the fabric and the layered effect works great.
