Finally making my muslin for this dress…yay!!! I don’t know if admin still checks up on the comments after a pattern has been up for a while, but I’d like to add that the free sleeve variation is definitely NOT the sleeve pictured. The download is ridiculously long compared to the finished product on Alden, and even the photos in the “how-to’s”. Guess I’ll figure it out on my own. Eek…wish me luck :)

It’s true – these sleeves are MUCH better than the other ones, and the model looks so great! I love both versions of the dress though! I think it’s wonderful that this dress looks so flattering on both thin and curvier women! And it’s got a vintage feel! What could be better? (:

Think I have to agree with everyone. The plus size version looks so much better. Perhaps it just needs a few feminine curves to balance the contrasting pleated front piece. Its hard to believe Alden is a Plus size. It certainly does look gorgeous on you Alden.

I can only agree with everyone else: the dress looks great on Alden and the sleeves are better. Which means that I won’t be making this dress (it looks like it needs a serious bit of bust to look good, so no way it’s going to work on me). wzrdreams, I know about the trouble of being in between sizes. How’s your bust size? When picking a dress size, that’s usually where you start. I would say you start with the size that will fit there, than take in the waist and shoulders and take out the hip if necessary. Also, pay attention to the back length measurement: getting that right can make a big difference. This dress is built up and down from the waistband, so getting that in the right place is essential.

Glad to see a garment on someone curvy on top like me…I can see how this will fit me… I don’t usually wear dresses, but I would like to make it as a top.

I know I’m just going to sound like an echo, but Alden you look fantastic in this dress and yes, I think you’re showing it off better than the model from last week (cute as she was!) Can’t wait to see other BurdaStylers versions!

This is such a lovely dress. Alden looks great!

Unfortunately, the sizing poses the same probelm for me as many commercial patterns…. I’m a 44-46 in the hip, but a 42 in the shoulders. So I am faced with a difficult choice of which pattern size to buy. Whenever I attempt to make a 44 dress the bodice fit is sadly frumpy… but grading up from a 42 for the rest of the garment (plus full bust adjustment) is even more work. Bummer.

I love the way this dress looks. I might just have to break down and buy it. But I think I would make it into a long top. Not into dresses. :o)

elainemay – looks like there’s no sleeve in the pattern, just the same cap thing that was on the first one. Looks like we need to figure that part out ourselves! Though why this couldn’t be included in the pattern as an option, I don’t know.

ooh, i like this version a lot more than the one from last week— this one has sleeves rather than the little ruffly flaps- but the technical drawings for both the misses and plus sizes show the flaps- is the sleeve part of either pattern or is there a how-to or something?

Oh no! I bought the small version last week and just started plugging away at grading it because I had no idea a plus size was coming! (Isn’t there usually a mention that it is?) And yes, it looks amazing on Alden (as usual) and much more beautiful in the ‘plus’ size. Ah well, guess I’ll save myself a few days work and just buy it again. Edited to add that I didn’t mean to sound petulant! This really is even better than the first.

Ver nice and I also like this version much better than the non-plus. Alden looks marvellous and the sleeves look very sophisticated.

Plus size is much better than a smaller size from last week. Alden looks really beautiful and feminine. Well done, BurdaStyle! ;)

Wow! I think this works even better as a larger size. Although this model is hardly what I would call “plus,” still you can see that the dress works really well with a curvier figure. I love her hair also. Nice work! This just might be the dress for me!

Alden you look GORGEOUS! Great dress, I actually prefer these sleeves to the ones on last weeks version. Any chance of a ‘how-to’ on them so I don’t need to buy both patterns? This is definitely my favourite new Burda pattern in a while. Much respect to you all!
