It's a .... BABY QUILT (organic)

My current project is this simple organic baby quilt. It’s made from organic cotton, also the padding is said to be organic. It was my first attempt to quilting, so I decided to make it simple.

It’s a gift for friends who became parents the day before yesterday. Unfortunately they didn’t tell me before if its going to be a boy or girl. I was 80% sure it would be a boy since they told me their prefered colors would be earth colors + green. Guess what, it’s a girl :-).
Hope they’ll like it even though it’s not very girly….

It’s not 100% finished yet, I still need to close the last seam. My question to you:
Would you only close it or also sew around the outer edges with some seam allowance in order to have some kind of frame? I’m a total beginner when it comes to quilting…I would appreciate your suggestions.

My inspiration was a quilt that I saw in a window shop, you can see it on the last pic.

Step..search the net..maybe someone has blogged it somewhere. It is nice. My mum was a quilt maker..she would either tuck it and sew it. A lot of work she did by hand. Regards to the colour its lovely…maybe you could add some pink little flowers..extra stitched down with ribbon bows..here or there…just a suggestion.x Good work dear:-D

Thanks sweetie :-). Wow she did by hand? Amazing! I don’t have the patience to do that. I have fixed the striped front part to the inner part by sewing between the stripes. But I think I have to fix the back part as well.
Great suggestion with the ribbons! Will try to find some matching ones.

Thank you Rikamekko :-). Glad you like it. I have sewed the front piece to the inner part (between the stripes). Yes, and I think I have to fix it around too to have the backside fixed.
