Description

I bought Burda Style magazine 6/11 and loved it. Most of the pictures were so inspiring! I especially loved the dress on the magazine cover, so I broke with my settlement not to make dresses or skirts. The dress is perfect for summer!
I had the right amount of fabric at home, but I didn’t like the beige colour (the fabric was supposed to be for a quilt I gave up on weeks ago), so I dyed it. I used leftover fabric for the inner dress.

I am quite pleased with the result! The instructions weren’t awful this time, phew. Can’t wait to wear it to the theatre! (I already saw the play a dozen of times because I had an internship there and was part of the costume design crew – such a beautiful experience! I’m totally hooked!)

Thanks for your quick reply! I’ve just started sewing, so I’m probably asking about basic skills to sew elastic.. I’m going to give it a try!

love this dress! But I can’t figure out how to make the elastic casing at the top (without the casing sticking up when you wear the dress). How did you do it?

I sewed the elastic to the seam allowance before turning the dress and closing the seam I left open to sew the elastic.
      Did that help? :)

Looking good! I’m glad you made the dress – I was thinking about sewing it myself and you just helped me make up my mind. Thanks :)

Thanks! I just hope it gets warmer soon so I can wear it – sadly it started to rain and get cooler after I finished it, haha.

They’re totally insane, this is nothing like Bardot’s style. Not that one would really wish to imitate her :-) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brigitte_Bardot the old-fascist thing is grossly overrated. Your dress, however, is cute. Good dye job too!

I know, I didn’t think it was Bardot’s style either, at least not this dress. But I liked it anyways. :)

      Thanks for the compliment!
