Il Dolce!

We were planning a casual Italian themed dinner with friends and I wanted to paint a shirt to wear. I was looking for inspiration when I saw the 12" high words I had painted on the wall of my kitchen – “Il Dolce Far Niente”. It’s Italian for “The sweetness of doing nothing.” It was the perfect message for my shirt. So I created stencils for the lettering in different sizes and styles, then spray painted the message on the fabric. I finished the design with my new rhinestone kit that works with my Slhouette digital stencil cutting machine. I cut the rhinestone stencil, ironed the stones on and voila. How do you say voila in Italian? Anyway, I’ve been playing a lot lately and exploring the capabilities of my new “toy”. The rhinestone butterfly shirt was another fun project. If you want to know more about the stencil machine, click “cutter” in credits below.

Thanks Tamezdc! Creating the phrase in different directions, sizes and fonts was like making a puzzle, seeing how they all might fit together. It really was fun.

I do. And I never take it for granted. Every day I remind myself how lucky I am.

I appreciate you saying that. There’s no greater reward to sharing than having someone say “that gives me an idea!”
