Description

Another wedding dress story… or a story about wearing dresses to weddings. My best-friend-niece and I wanted to have new dresses for another nieces’ wedding in ‘08, but couldn’t afford to just buy them, so we went to the fancy fabric store. We fell in love with some Chinese shantung silk, and I also got some silver and purple jacquard print that matched the purple silk I found. I’d made a few small projects before and a shirt or two, but this was my first time making a full dress. So, of course, I started off by making 2 dresses, each with a different pattern! Oh, well, they turned out nicely, and I fell in love with sewing, especially since I’m not working with a 30 year old machine anymore. As I recall, these are both McCall’s patterns.

Thank you. We really enjoyed wearing these dresses, and have been asking our husbands to take us somewhere so we have an excuse to wear them again.
