Description

I made this blouse from the New Look pattern # 6499. I recently watched Streetcar Named Desire and was inspired to make a retro-feminine house shirt on my old-new Kenmore sewing machine from the 50s/60s. The fabric was an old sheet from the thrift store, and the pattern was secondhand as well. This shirt cost me less than a dollar to make, $11.00 even if you include my awesome secondhand machine! I did use my newer model Brother for the buttonholes and buttons. For more on this project, as well as other sewing/craft projects, opinions, and stories of rural life, check out my blog:

Material Notes

As stated above, I used an old cotton/poly blend sheet for the main fabric. I used part of an old dust ruffle for the interfacing (the part that goes under the bed :). The buttons were reclaimed from a shirt I upcycled into my sleep cami project.
