Hot Hot South

Mykolayv, Ukraine

This project was supposed to be my first post here after the registration. I made it in the end of last summer and also took the pictures about that time. But then on some unknown reason I postponed my activity on this site for several months. So about a year passed and the time to wear the suit came back:)
Well, the set consists of a long wide skirt and a vest. Both of items are very comfortable and by the patterns remind jeans clothes and have all their attributes including double top stitches. When I was sewing it, I really thought about those romantic cowboys films (what a shame of me :$) But as I live in the South of Ukraine I substituted Wild West for Hot South:)
Both the skirt and the vest are from the same old Burda issue: the skirt – 3/2002, #121
and the vest 3/2002, #120.
The blouse is not new – made long ago from Burda 9/2005, #120.

Material Notes

Heavy linen for the suit. It seems to me the fabric has some other fiber because it is really heavy and good for chilly autumn or spring days not for summer but according to the noble wrinkles on these clothes that unknown fiber is natural, too:)
The blend of cotton, viscose and some synthetic for the shirt.

Spring, Fall
Garment Type
Casual, Classic, Other
Corduroy, Cotton, Blends, Flannel, Linen, Polyester, Suiting

This is a 9 richter outfit!!!! All of it, including the shoes! Very inspiring, it makes me dream of the Wild West, but it has a Russian style as well!! The pink color is really a surprise for this style, a very pleasant surpise for sure! If I was a man I would have fallen in love with you:))) The favorite part (if there is such a thing in a perfectly styled outfit) is the shirt. (I still remember the first project of yours that I have personally seen, it was a very pretty grey skirt with flowers!)

Thank you very much ( I wish you were a man:)), I love to wear this outfit, feel as if it was created and made for me only:) The colour is actually deep red ( the pictures don’t reflect it properly enough) and the fabric is pretty tough so is the right choice for cowgirls:)

Oh, yes it’s red, it looked like deep pink yesterday because of the lighting! Pink would be lovely but I like it equally as red!

Thank you, the shirt is one of my favourite – it’s old but I wear it with a pleasure as if it’s just made:)

Probably that’s why we like Burda – we can choose the things we like at any time. Those, who pefer something very trendy, can find pretty exstravagant things but those, who prefer classics – can use the issues of any year and wear the things indefinitely and stay in trend anyway:-)
