well, to be honest really, not completely home made. this came as a panel and all I had to do was cut out the numbered stockings, but some backing on, add a loop to hang them up and there you go. I used red cotton for the back and made the loops from the leftovers. Every day I fill the respective number with a little goody (pencils, crayons, raisons, sweets etc.) and let my grand son find the number. He loves it :-))

yeah, this is a typical german thing. always had one for our 3 when they were small. When I first knew my husband (many many years ago now) I actually made one for him out of empty toilet rolls. Collected them for weeks, wrapped them in green paper and arranged them in the shape of a xmas tree. remembering that I actually googled it and found a similar one on pinterest. projects like that are fun xx

it was fun making it, but it is even more fun watching my grandson opening the number of the day in the morning and then spending the rest of the day asking if the can open another number :-)))
