Holiday Gift Sacks

I created these to solve the issue of too small a Christmas stocking, too many gift givers and the issue of having a total of 14 to hang and fill. Really, just too large a family!

I wanted these to be roomy enough to fill with goodies and allow for the contents to stay neat, tidy and contained. In my house, our old stockings were often found laying on the floor Christmas morning, with piles of goodies around them, as opposed to in them. There simply was never enough room.

I chose to embellish them with poinsettia or tree motifs for the women, snowmen for the children and mittens for the lads. I wanted winter themed designs as opposed to specific traditional Christmas images.

The felt is lined with complimenting fabric for extra sturdiness. I included some satin ribbon or cotton string with gromets to tie each off. Irridescent snowflakes were added for a bit of sparkle.

I hope these inspire you to create your own set for the 2010 holiday season.

Happy sewing!
