Green tie front blouse and skirt with box pleats

Hi!! This top is based on model 101 from Burda magazine 7/2007 (you can see my other project based on this pattern here: http://www.burdastyle.com/projects/tie-front-gathered-plaid-blouse?all_images=1#project-shot-all
I altered a little the neckline because it was low and I added a bow tie instead of the band collar. I also made short sleeves gathered at the bottom with elastic.
The skirt is based on an ancient burda magazine model, I can’t remember which one. I made this two piece outfit two years ago (then I was thinner), the skirt was short but had enough ease, and everything was ok.
This summer, after the consumption of some millions of calories, I tried again the outfit. You can see the bringing-tears-to-the-eyes result at the last picture: The skirt had not a single cm of ease and was lifted up. But, lucky me, I had kept the remnants of the fabric! I added a rectangular piece at the bottom of the skirt and made two box pleats at both front and back. I think that now it is much better!! Still the skirt is very tight so I plan to redo the side seams and give it some ease. The top is also a little tight now, but I can’t do anything about it: it has nearly zero seam allowances.
Thanks for looking!
P.s. My next project is sewing my lips together:P

I think your re-fashioning was a very smart idea! It would have been a pity to waste this outfit – the colour is awesome and the neck tie is so cute.

Thank you very much dear kisses! You, and some other fellow seamstresses, made me blush with your comments about the last sexy photo!! When I wear it some days before I wanted to cry, I felt so fat!! I had it in this legth for two years and enjoyed wearing it, but it was not so tight and short! I agree it is sexy in the last photo: the skirt is as long as a tunic and so tight that the fabric is ready to explode:P. I would keep it this way if I was a little younger and my lifestyle was different;)
I’ m very glad you liked the neckline and the box pleats, I think I will wear it a lot to go to work this way:)

Good result of re-doing (although, to tell the truth, on the last picture, somebody looks quite sexy :)) if you didn’t tell us the story we wouldn’t never guess it looked differently. And I agree with the girls – this is your colour.

Thanks so much me dear Starocks! This refashioning was a relaxing break of the twisted dress and I enjoyed it a lot, thought I felt a little guilty for all the chocolates I ate during the winter:)

you look lovely liliv, your story about your next projects funny. I think you look great. I have the same problem which is why i love woking with jersey, it can expand and i can take my projects in when i lose weight.I go to slimming world. Its coming of me slowely as i like my alcohol when i go on nights out lol. The green is lovely on you and i love the pleats in the skirt.I think the shirt looks fine but what about a patterned side panel if you think you need some ease?? I’ m sure you have lots of scraps x

You really make me smile, and I hope you never do that “next” project! I love this color and your resourcefulness – the skirt looks just great with the new pleats! I’m sure if you thought long enough you could come up with some alteration for the top – perhaps some green lace in the same hue? It’s a lovely outfit!

Thanks a lot dear BeeZee! Some lace would be great but it’s impossible to find the same exactly shade of green. But I have some more fabric left ….. if you have some refashioning idea for it tell me please!
I wish I could make the “sew my mouth closed” project. It would take less time than altering all my fitted clothes!
