Green Project -- Football Jersey and Vintage Edging into Bikini

This was one of my husband’s football jerseys destined for Goodwill until I decided to try my hand at making it into a bikini.

The top is made from the sleeves (simply cut them off the shirt, cut to size and sew together to create a two-layer top for more coverage); the bottom was based off a pair of my old undies that were on their way to the rag bin and both were attached to some vintage edging my grandmother gave me.

I tacked elastic in the edging to keep the bottom from sliding off when wet. The straps are braided strips of the football jersey.

My first attempt at swimwear, it stands up to pool use so I’ll call it a sucess! Had to hand stitch it since my sewing machine cabinet was in use as a computer desk that day…

Please enjoy my floor until I work up the courage to photograph myself in swimwear. :)

Material Notes

Would just as easily work with a cotton/blend tshirt. Just make sure you know the material is colorfast!
