Great coatigan pattern!

This Burda self drafted pattern is very clever and a quick sew. I opted for the larger size and love the roominess. The largest width of the body pattern piece was the same width of my drafting paper at 24" which was very convenient. I used a brown and green wool/silk blend knit I had ordered online sight unseen (a little dicey) and fortunately was very happy with the fabric! I don’t have a serger, so had played around with what stretchy stitches to incorporate. I used a regular presser foot for the seams and then switched to a walking foot on the hems as the bulky fabric would have shifted too much. Had never sewn this kind of knit before and would definitely do it again. Also am very happy to finally have a long comfy cardigan.

Material Notes

Wool silk blend knit

What a nice cardigan! The photo in the magazine is a disaster, it would never convince me to sew it….But it looks great on you! I like the styling with the belt, it gives a nice, feminine shape.

Thank you. With how the seams merge in the back it creates a universally flattering silhouette, you should consider it!
