Gina's A Plus A-line!

New York, New Yo...

This is my very slightly varied version of Twinkle’s A-line skirt! I cut out the pattern pieces this past weekend after much plotting and just couldn’t get to sewing it.. I was pretty intimidated by the lining. But after some encouragement from MissValentine0601 and seeing the contest, yesterday was the day I got to it!

I am extremely satisfied with the results. It isn’t perfect, but it is me! A little sloppy, a little unique and highly anticipated ;)

I changed things up a bit by connecting the pleats (im not sure of the technical term, regardless i think i may separate them for a more flowy A-line) I though it would elongate my short torso.. I also turned the pleats inward a bit like all of the popular tulip skirts. Also, I used a suiting wool instead of heavy, skipped the zipper and used metal snaps (i love the outer look of circular silver snaps!) and connected the lining (making my life a little more complicated, but neater in the end.)
I lined this skirt with ivory charmeuse, and top stitched with a lighter colored grey thread.

ps, this is my first winter skirt (bought or made) ever! I can wait to wear it tomorrow, to school, work, and dinner :)

Thank you so much Twinkle by Wenlan for the pattern!

This picture is making me want to make this skirt! I love that belt, it goes perfectly with a simple black top and grey skirt.
