Description

I needed something for my mother’s May Day wedding, and was broke, but I had this heavy navy linen hanging around. Following both gedwood’s Basic Bodice Block and esewingworkshop’s skirt tutorial, I put them together and made a clean, tailored dress!

I drafted the bodice out onto paper, but for the skirt, I just measured directly on the fabric and sewed darts.

To line the dress, I basically made an identical dress out of a very light cotton and sewed it into the dress.

For closure, I used an invisible zipper up the back.

Material Notes

Heavy linen, light cotton, invisible zipper
